Eggless Christmas Cake

Traditional Eggless Christmas Cake/Plum Cake/Rich and Dark Fruit Cake Recipe without alcohol /rum


Christmas Plum Cake


For Fruit Soaking:


Black Raisins 1/2 Cup

Tutti-frutti 1/2 Cup

Candied Orange Peel 1/4 Cup

Dried Cherries 1/2 cup

Dried Apricots 1/4 Cup

Dates 1/4 Cup

Dried Cranberries 1/2 Cup


100% orange Juice.

you can use any dry fruits available.

soak minimum for 1 day.

In case you don't have time to soak, just heat in the microwave or pan for a little bit until the liquid is absorbed.

if soaking for a longer period use tetra pack orange juice which has longer shelf life.

For Making Caramel Syrup:

Sugar 40 gms

Jaggery 40 gms


you can cook the syrup until desired brown color is achieved.

usually, the traditional one is dark brown in color, u can stop cooking at your desired brown color.

For the Cake:


Caramel Syrup 4 Tbsp

Orange Juice 1/2 Cup

Unsalted Butter 1 Cup

Condensed Milk 1 Can (14 ounces)

All purpose Flour 1 1/2 Cup

Baking Powder 1 tsp

Baking Soda 1/2 tsp

Salt 1/2 tsp

Cinnamon Powder 1/2tsp

spice Mix 1 tsp

Slivered Almonds 1/2 cup

Spice Mix : Equal Quantities of Ginger, Clove, nutmeg and star anise.

You can buy spice mix or make your own.

can adjust the quantity of cinnamon and spice depending on your taste.

if using salted butter, skip adding salt.

You can add nuts of your choice.

Bake at 300° F for 1 hr 15min.

Bake time depends on the size of the tin. I used a 9 inch round cake tin. if using the smaller size you can reduce the time.
